There is one word for the above inspiration: Glamorous! This Great Gatsby, 1920′s inspiration & colour board is definitely rich and opulent but not over the top. I love 1920′s inspired fashion … the frills, the head pieces, the (fake) fur, the pearls and sparkling gold.
As a graphic designer what gets me seriously excited though, is this renaissance of Art Deco design elements in the current graphic design, patterns, jewellery, fashion and interiors. Art Deco is a truly eclectic style rich in geometric motifs and shapes. The renewed interest in that era was sparked of course by Baz Luhrmann’s recent depiction of the roaring ’20s in his adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel ‘The Great Gatsby’. This new motion picture is a wonderful inspiration for a fabulous party or an elegant wedding.
